Sydney Nagy is an award-winning contortionist, aerialist, and former Junior Olympics rhythmic gymnast based in Portland, Oregon.
Sydney Nagy has been an aerialist and contortionist with Pendulum Aerial Arts since the summer of 2013 where she graduated from the Professional Training Program. Prior to training in the circus arts, Sydney was a competitive rhythmic gymnast for seven years. She is a five-time Junior Olympics competitor and a four-time member of the National Future Stars team. Sydney made a conscious decision to stop competing in the sport of rhythmic gymnastics and transition into the performance-based discipline of aerial and contortion to embrace storytelling in her performance and convey emotion. With aerial dance and contortion, she found a supportive, community-based environment where she could not only challenge her physical abilities, but also test her mental limits and freely express herself through innovative choreography.
In early 2017, Sydney began working on a duo contortion act with Stephanie Cadd, an accomplished contortionist and dancer who also trains at Pendulum Aerial Arts. The duo took their act to the stage, competing in Circus Star USA, a prestigious national circus arts competition in Hollywood, California with judges from Cirque du Soleil, Cavalia’s Odysseo, and Le Rêve – The Dream. Sydney and Stephanie placed in the top three.
